Lunda is one of the suburbs of Nairobi, Kenya’s capital and largest city. It is widely regarded as one of the wealthiest suburbs in Kenya.
It is bounded by Limuru Road to the west, Ruaka Road to the south, Kiambu Road to the east and coffee plantations to the north. The area includes Closeburn Estate, Mimosa and Old Runda to the west, Mumwe and Whispers to the south, and New Runda and Muringa to the east. Recent developments have seen the larger Runda area expand and now include developments such as Runda Mhasibu and Runda Paradise to the north. It is separated from Nairobi city center by 2,500 hectares of Karura Forest. The landscape of Runda Estate ranges from 1,690 meters above sea level in low-lying areas to 1,727 meters above sea level in high-altitude areas. The area of Runda Estate (estimated 14 square kilometers) used to be a large multi-company coffee estate with 3 coffee processing plants
Runda was developed from the project in 1972 based on needs during the construction of the UNEP headquarters in Gigiri in the early 1970s. The first phase of the estate (Alte Runda) was completed between 1972 and 1980

Overview
During Kenya’s colonial days, the British demarcated the area as a residential neighborhood for civil servants. During the 1940s and 1950s Parklands was one of the most congested suburban areas of the Nairobi metropolitan area. In the second decade of the 2000s Parklands is a mixed commercial/residential neighborhood. The relative availability and comparatively reasonably priced land in the area attract business and residential real estate development, away from the relative lack and exorbitant pricing of real estate in Nairobi’s central business district, to the south of Parklands. Parklands have a significant population of people of Asian descent.

When Ngara High School was founded in 1957, it served ethnic Indians of both sexes in Parklands and Ngara.[5]Several Primary and Secondary Schools are in Parklands both government and private.
